Qionghai Lake
A large freshwater lake just southeast of the centre. On the map its smooth outline sits against the sharp street pattern, and the eye goes straight to it.

Xichang Map Poster & Print
Xichang lies in the broad valley of the Anning River in southern Sichuan, and from above it reads as a compact grid held between two mountain ranges. Most streets follow the length of the valley. The older core is tightly packed, and the newer districts spread outward in straighter, wider blocks. To the southeast, Qionghai Lake fills a basin at the foot of the slopes, a large, quiet shape that anchors the whole view.
The city is the seat of the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and is known across China for its mild, sunny climate and clear night skies, which gave it the nickname Moon City. Many people know the name from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, although the launch site itself sits in the mountains well to the north of the town rather than inside it.
A Xichang map poster works best when the frame takes in both the street grid and the lake shore, so that the contrast between dense lines and open water becomes the subject. In monochrome the slopes around Qionghai fade into calm space, and the roads running out along the valley give the composition a clear north to south direction.

Anning River valley
The flat valley floor sets the city's orientation. Roads, the river and the rail line all run along it, so the layout feels long and directional.
Mountain edges
Where the valley ends, the street network thins quickly into slopes. This gives the city a firm natural border on both sides instead of an open sprawl.

Miért Xichang?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Xichang suits anyone with ties to Liangshan or southern Sichuan, and anyone drawn to maps where water and mountains frame a town. The lake and the valley grid make a balanced image that holds up at small and large sizes.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a date or a family name, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the lake especially well.
