Planned central grid
Wide avenues and large blocks form a regular pattern at the city's core. In fine line, they produce a strong, clearly structured image.

Zhaoyuan Map Poster & Print
Zhaoyuan is a county-level city under Yantai, in the northwest of Shandong's Jiaodong peninsula. The urban area sits in gently rolling country of low hills, small rivers and farmland. From above, its plan is mostly modern: broad roads laid out in a grid, large rectangular blocks and a clear central district. The surrounding hills shape the edges of the built-up area.
The city is widely known as one of China's leading gold-producing areas, and mining has long been central to its economy and identity. Most of that industry lies outside the frame of a city map. It still explains the scale of the place and the roads that reach out toward the mining districts in the surrounding countryside.
A Zhaoyuan map poster shows a city built largely in recent decades, with the clean geometry that comes from planning on open ground. Rivers, parks and the curve of the terrain interrupt the grid and keep the composition from feeling rigid. In black and white, the result is orderly without being monotonous.

River corridors
Small rivers cross the urban area and bend through the grid. They give the map some softer lines among the straight roads of the modern city.
Hilly outskirts
Low hills rise around the city, and the roads curve to follow them. The edges of the map are therefore looser and more organic than its centre.
