The southern road
The main road running south from Asmara passes straight through town and gives the map its strongest line. The smaller streets connect to it from both sides.

Mendefera Map Poster & Print
Mendefera sits on the Eritrean highlands, close to two thousand metres above sea level, and serves as the administrative capital of the Debub region. From above it looks like a modest, loosely knit town. Its densest part lies near the main north–south road, and the blocks become sparser as they reach farmland and dry ground. There is no hard edge to the town. The street pattern simply fades into the plateau around it.
Before Eritrean independence the town was widely known as Adi Ugri, and older maps and historical accounts still use that name. It lies south of Asmara on the route toward the Ethiopian border. That road is the clearest line on the map, a spine from which the local streets branch. Low hills and seasonal watercourses shape the surroundings far more than any river or coastline could.
A Mendefera map poster stays true to that scale. Drawn in fine lines on a plain ground, the town becomes a small cluster of blocks and lanes gathered around its main road, with a wide margin of open plateau left mostly blank. It is a quiet composition that fits a reading corner or hallway better than a statement wall, and it means most to people who know the place well.

A compact centre
The densest blocks sit close together near the middle of town, where most everyday activity is concentrated. Toward the outskirts the pattern loosens into scattered plots.
Open plateau edges
Past the last streets the map opens into highland terrain, fields and faint tracks. The town appears as a distinct island of lines surrounded by generous empty space.

Ինչու՝ Mendefera
Քարտեզ, որն ինչ-որ բան է նշանակում
People hang this map because Mendefera is where they grew up, where family still lives, or where they spent years working or studying. For Eritreans living abroad, a plain drawing of the town's streets can carry more than a photograph, and it suits almost any room without drawing attention to itself.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name, a date or a short dedication. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. You can download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
