Addison is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, a short distance west of Chicago and close to O'Hare International Airport. Its map is typical of the region's postwar suburbs. There are curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, long straight arterial roads on the Midwestern mile grid and large blocks of warehouses and industrial buildings.
Salt Creek winds through the village from north to south, and its looping course and the green spaces along its banks break up the street pattern. Parks and forest preserve land follow the creek, giving the map a soft green line through the middle. Major expressways run along the edges and connect Addison to the rest of the metropolitan area.
