Adustina lies in the northeast of Bahia, in the semi-arid sertão near the border with Sergipe. From above, the town is compact and clearly defined. A small grid of streets surrounds the centre, with a main road running through it, and beyond the last houses the landscape opens straight into dry pasture and scrubland.
The countryside around Adustina has the pattern typical of the Bahian interior. Long, straight rural roads run between fenced properties, small reservoirs appear as isolated shapes, and scattered farmsteads sit far apart.
