Ängelholm lies in northwest Skåne, where the Rönne å river flows through the town on its way into Skälderviken bay. The river is the defining feature of the map, curving through the centre in a series of bends and dividing the old town from newer districts before reaching the sea.
West of the centre, the coast opens into a long, straight sandy beach backed by Kronoskogen, a pine forest planted to stabilise drifting sand. On the map, the forest and dunes form a broad band between the town and the water, crossed by paths rather than streets.
