Agudos is in the interior of São Paulo state, a short distance from the larger city of Bauru. From above it follows the familiar pattern of towns in this region. A fairly regular grid of blocks makes up the centre, and newer neighbourhoods spread out along the approach roads. The town sits in gently rolling country, and the land around it is mostly farmed.
Beyond the edge of the town, the map changes character. Large agricultural and forestry areas surround Agudos, and at this scale they show up as wide open spaces crossed by a few long, straight rural roads. The contrast between the dense town blocks and the empty land around them gives the drawing a clear frame.
