An Nuhūd is a town in West Kordofan, Sudan, set in a broad, gently undulating landscape of sandy soils and dry savanna. There are no major rivers or coastlines nearby, so the map is shaped by roads and settlement alone. The town is a compact cluster of blocks and compounds, with tracks and routes leading away in several directions toward villages and grazing lands.
The town has long been a trading centre for the surrounding countryside, where livestock and farm produce from the region are bought and sold. Kordofan is also one of the world's main sources of gum arabic, harvested from acacia trees. Printed as a large-format An Nuhūd map poster, the town reads as a hub where many routes meet.
