Ancón Map Poster
Ancón is a district of Panama City that covers much of the former Canal Zone on the Pacific side. On a map, it wraps around Ancón Hill, a forested rise that overlooks the capital and the canal. To the west lies the canal's Pacific entrance, crossed by the Bridge of the Americas, and to the east, the dense streets of central Panama City.
Much of the area was built by the United States during the canal era, and its planned neighbourhoods, such as Balboa, still have wide lawns, curving roads and tree-lined streets that contrast with the city next door. The Amador Causeway extends into the bay, linking small islands at the canal entrance.
An Ancón map poster puts one of the world's great waterways at the centre. The canal channel, the port areas, the causeway and the green mass of the hill create a strong, varied composition. It shows both the engineering history and the calm, garden-like layout of the old Zone.
