Āsika, also written Aska, is a town in Ganjam district in southern Odisha, on the Rushikulya river. The land around it is mostly flat and farmed, with low hills rising in the distance. On a map the town is a dense mesh of lanes around its market streets, and the river runs close by.
The area has long been tied to sugarcane, and the town is known for its sugar mill, one of the older ones in the state. From above, the countryside around Āsika is a patchwork of fields and small villages linked by roads. The Rushikulya winds through it as a wide, braided channel.
