Atebubu is a district capital in the Bono East region of central Ghana, in the transition zone where forest gives way to savanna. It has long been a market and road junction for the farming country around it. Roads leaving the town head south toward Kumasi and east toward the western reaches of Lake Volta.
The map shows a town built around its routes. Main roads meet near the centre, where the market and commercial streets form the densest part of the plan. Residential quarters spread outward in a loose grid of compounds and plots, and toward the edges the pattern becomes open and scattered, merging into fields and bush.
