Báishí Zhèn is a town in the rural hill country of Chongqing, a region of steep ridges, narrow valleys and terraced slopes. On a map, the town appears as a small, dense cluster in the lower ground. Its main streets follow the valley, and smaller lanes climb away up the hillsides. Around it, the landscape is crossed by thin rural roads looping between villages and farms.
