Baras is a municipality in the province of Rizal, east of Metro Manila, where the lowlands around Laguna de Bay start to rise toward the Sierra Madre. The town centre is compact, with a small grid of streets around the plaza and the old parish church. The land climbs quickly away from that core.
From above, the map changes character as you move east. Near the town proper, streets are short and closely spaced. Further out, roads thin into winding routes that follow ridges and valleys, and they pass through farmland, scattered barangays and increasingly wooded terrain.
A Baras map poster shows the meeting of two landscapes: the settled lowland edge of the Manila region and the forested foothills behind it. The contrast between the neat centre and the looping country roads gives the design a gentle movement from one side of the frame to the other.
