Beckingen is a municipality in the Merzig-Wadern district of Saarland, in southwest Germany. It lies on the Saar, between the towns of Merzig and Dillingen, and includes the main village and several smaller localities on both sides of the valley and on the higher ground above it.
On a map, the Saar is the defining feature. The river curves through the valley, with a railway line and roads running alongside it, and the built-up areas stretch along these routes. Above the valley, forests cover the slopes, and smaller villages sit among fields and woodland on the plateau.
