Beroroha is a small town in the Atsimo-Andrefana region of southwestern Madagascar, on the Mangoky River. It is a remote place, and the map shows it plainly: a small cluster of streets and tracks beside a broad, braided river channel, surrounded by a large, sparsely settled landscape.
The river dominates the view. Its wide sandy bed splits into several channels and rejoins them, and the pattern changes with the seasons. The town sits along its bank. A few roads and tracks lead away from it across dry country toward the wider region.
