Beverly Hills is a separate city surrounded almost entirely by Los Angeles, and its map shows two different landscapes. South of Sunset Boulevard, residential streets run in a regular pattern, many of them gently curved and lined with palms. North of Sunset the streets wind upward into the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, following the canyons.
The commercial centre is the Golden Triangle, bounded by Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Canon Drive, and it includes Rodeo Drive. Beverly Gardens Park runs as a long narrow strip along Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Beverly Hills Hotel stands on Sunset Boulevard.
