Beverwijk lies in North Holland, on the north bank of the North Sea Canal and just inland from the coastal dunes. On a map it forms a dense, continuous town that merges with Heemskerk to the north, bounded by the canal and port areas to the south, the dunes and green belts to the west and polder landscape to the east.
The town is widely known for the Beverwijk Bazaar, a large covered market that draws visitors from across the Netherlands at weekends. Nearby, the steelworks at IJmuiden and the canal port give the southern edge of the map a distinctly industrial character, with long quays, rail sidings and large rectangular sites.
A Beverwijk map poster shows a typically Dutch mix of order and water. Canal lines and straight roads define the frame, residential neighbourhoods fill in with fine street patterns, and the dunes to the west add a softer, more organic edge. In black and white the contrast between industry, housing and landscape is especially clear.
