Bīdestān is a small city in Qazvin Province, a short distance from the provincial capital, Qazvin. It sits on a broad plain at the southern edge of the Alborz range. From above, the town is a modest grid of streets with a clear centre and newer blocks at its edges, surrounded by cultivated land and orchards.
The Qazvin plain has long been an agricultural region, and the fields around Bīdestān shape its map as much as the streets do. Straight roads link the town with Qazvin and neighbouring settlements, and the land between them is divided into long plots that show clearly on a detailed map.
