Blainville sits on the North Shore of Montreal, in the Laurentides region of Quebec. From above, it is a textbook postwar and modern suburb: winding crescents and cul-de-sacs grouped into neighbourhoods, framed by larger arterial roads. Autoroute 15 runs along one side, and a commuter rail line passes through, linking the city with central Montreal.
Blainville grew quickly in the second half of the twentieth century as families moved beyond the island of Montreal. Large parks, woodlands and a golf course sit among the housing areas, and newer districts continue to extend the pattern. It is a city built mostly for living, with the rhythm of commuting and school routes shaping how it works.
