Bom Conselho sits in the agreste of Pernambuco, the transitional belt between the humid coast and the dry sertão. From above, the town is a tight cluster of streets surrounded by a wide, lightly drawn countryside. The urban core is easy to read at a glance, and roads leave it in several directions toward farms, smaller settlements and neighbouring municipalities.
On a black-and-white map the contrast between town and land does most of the work. The centre fills with short blocks and intersecting streets, while the edges thin out into longer roads and scattered lots. Small watercourses and reservoirs, typical of the agreste, appear as fine lines and pale shapes, giving an otherwise quiet landscape some detail.
