Bonon lies in the Marahoué region of central-western Ivory Coast, in a landscape of plantations, remaining patches of forest and farmland. From above, the town is a compact settlement where several roads meet. A loose grid of streets surrounds the centre, and residential quarters extend outward along the main routes. Beyond the built-up area, the map turns into a sparse pattern of tracks leading into the fields.
The surrounding area is part of the country's cocoa-growing belt, and agriculture shapes both the economy and the look of the land. Bonon is a local centre where produce is collected and traded.
