Bosconia lies in the Cesar Department of northern Colombia, on the flat lowlands south of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It is best known as a crossroads. Main highways linking the Caribbean coast with the interior meet here, and on the map these routes form the town's most important lines, converging from several directions on a compact urban centre.
The town itself is laid out in a fairly regular pattern of blocks, typical of settlements in this part of Colombia, and the grid extends outward along the main roads.
