Bougouni Map Poster & Print
Bougouni is a town in southern Mali, in the Sikasso region, on the road between Bamako and Sikasso. From above, it forms a broad, low settlement where several routes meet. The main roads cross near the centre, and neighbourhoods fill the spaces between them, with more regular blocks in the middle and looser compounds toward the edges.
The country around Bougouni is wooded savanna and farmland, one of Mali's more fertile areas, and cotton is an important crop. Seasonal streams and a river cross the landscape nearby, and their green margins show up as darker lines on the map. Tracks lead from town into surrounding villages.
