Bra Map Poster
Bra rises on a hillside in the province of Cuneo, between the vineyards of the Langhe and the sandy hills of the Roero. Its old centre follows the slope, so the streets curve and step rather than forming a grid. Squares and churches break up the dense blocks, and the higher ground at the Zizzola hill gives the town a green crest above the rooftops.
Bra is where the Slow Food movement began in 1986, and the town hosts the biennial cheese fair that draws producers from many countries. It also gives its name to Bra, a cow's milk cheese from the area. Nearby Pollenzo, a frazione of Bra, is home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences.
