Buenavista is a large locality in the municipality of Tultitlán, in the State of Mexico, on the northern fringe of the metropolitan area around Mexico City. It grew quickly in recent decades as families moved outward from the capital, and its map reflects that growth: a dense fabric of small rectangular blocks and narrow streets, much of it laid out as successive housing developments.
Main avenues cross the area and connect it to the rest of the valley, and on the poster they stand out as the few long lines within an otherwise fine-grained pattern. The orientation of the grid changes from one neighbourhood to another, marking the boundaries of separate subdivisions, and small plazas, schools and sports fields appear as occasional open spaces among the housing.
Beyond the town, the plain of the Valley of Mexico extends in every direction, broken by the hills that ring it.
