Burngreave is an inner-city district of Sheffield, just north of the city centre on the slopes above the Don valley. Sheffield is a city of hills, and Burngreave shows it clearly. Rows of terraced housing follow the contours instead of a strict grid, so the streets bend and step as they climb. The main roads cut straighter lines up the gradient.
The large Burngreave Cemetery is one of the clearest shapes on the map, an irregular block of open ground among dense housing. Around it, parks and green slopes break up the built fabric.
