Butunduzi is a town in the Western Region of Uganda, not far north of the equator. The land here is hilly and green, with farms, gardens and plantations covering the slopes. The town has grown along its main roads, with shops and houses lining them and smaller lanes branching off into the surrounding farmland.
Like many rural trading centres in western Uganda, Butunduzi serves as a local hub for markets, schools and services for the villages around it. On a map this shows as a denser cluster of streets where the main routes meet, and the pattern becomes gradually looser towards the edges.
