Cabreúva lies in the interior of São Paulo state, in hilly country between the metropolitan area and the towns of the Jundiaí and Itu region. On a map it does not appear as one compact grid. The municipality spreads as several built-up areas along valleys and roads, separated by green, wooded slopes.
Part of the Serra do Japi, one of the last large areas of Atlantic forest in the interior of the state, lies within the municipality. It shows on the map as wide areas with few lines. The Tietê river also crosses Cabreúva, winding through the landscape in a twisting line quite different from the rivers of the flat plateau.
Roads follow the terrain, curving along contours and crossing ridges at saddles, and residential districts thin out into rural land. A Cabreúva map poster shows a place shaped by its relief, with streets following the hills rather than a straight plan, and forest filling the spaces between them.
