Chaigou Map Poster
Chaigou lies in the interior of Shandong province, in the farming country of the Weifang region. From above, it is a town of fairly regular streets set in a wide agricultural landscape. The fields around it are divided into long, narrow strips and rectangles, and straight field roads and drainage lines cut through them in a pattern that reaches to every edge of the map.
There is little here that appears in travel writing, and the poster does not claim otherwise. What it shows is the clear, practical geometry of a town on the North China Plain: a main road or two through the centre, blocks of houses and workshops, and then fields. The boundary between town and country is easy to trace.
