Chenggu Map Poster & Print
Chenggu is a county in Hanzhong, in southern Shaanxi, on the Han River as it flows through a fertile basin between two mountain ranges: the Qinling to the north and the Daba Shan to the south. The town sits on flat valley land, and the river shapes its southern edge.
This area is known across China for its citrus orchards, which cover much of the gently sloping land around the town. Chenggu is also the home of Zhang Qian, the second-century-BC envoy whose journeys west opened the routes later called the Silk Road. His tomb is part of the UNESCO Silk Roads listing.
