Chevilly-Larue lies in the Val-de-Marne department, a few kilometres south of the Paris ring road and north of Orly airport. The map shows a town of mixed textures. There is an older village core with narrow streets, residential blocks and gardens around it, and larger parcels of housing estates and commercial sites along the main roads.
Part of the Rungis International Market, often described as the largest wholesale fresh food market in the world, lies within the commune. Its enormous halls and loading yards appear on the map as long, regular rectangles.
