Chichaoua lies in the Marrakesh-Safi region, on the open plain between Marrakesh and the Atlantic coast. The High Atlas rises to the south. Its map is shaped by movement: this is where the roads toward Essaouira and toward Agadir split, and the town has grown along and between them. From above, it looks like a junction that became a town.
The Oued Chichaoua, a river that often runs low or dry in the hot months, passes nearby, with a line of greener farmland along its course. Around the town, fields and olive groves cover the plain in a patchwork of plots. The town is also known for its carpets, a local weaving tradition with its own patterns and colours, though a map shows it only as streets and shops.
