Cleveland Map Poster & Print
Cleveland lies along the southern shore of Lake Erie, and the lake forms the straight northern edge of the map. The Cuyahoga River cuts through the city in tight bends before it reaches the lake. Its valley, the Flats, separates downtown from the West Side and is crossed by a series of high bridges.
Downtown is organised around Public Square, laid out by Moses Cleaveland's surveyors in 1796, with Terminal Tower standing beside it. From there, long avenues run east and west. The Cuyahoga became well known after a 1969 fire on the polluted river helped push forward national clean water laws.
A Cleveland map poster shows the contrast between the orderly street grid and the winding river valley, along with the lakefront, where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame stands by the water. The parks of the Emerald Necklace follow valleys around the edges of the city.

The city's historic central square, from which the downtown grid was laid out. It is a small, clear open space in the middle of the denser blocks.

A long, nearly straight shoreline along the northern edge of the city. It gives the composition a strong horizontal base of open water.
