Colima Map Poster
Colima is the capital of the small Mexican state of the same name, in a valley near the Pacific coast. The city has grown together with its neighbour, Villa de Álvarez, and the map shows one continuous urban area. At its centre is a regular colonial grid, with later neighbourhoods spreading outwards. Small rivers cross the city from north to south.
The Volcán de Colima, one of the most active volcanoes in Mexico, rises to the north and can be seen from much of the city. In the centre, the Jardín Libertad square sits beside the cathedral and the government palace. Colima is also known for its pre-Hispanic ceramics, especially the clay dog figures found in the region's shaft tombs.
