Dhanera Map Poster & Print
Dhanera is a town in Banaskantha district, in the far north of Gujarat near the border with Rajasthan. The land is flat and semi-arid, and the town grew as a trading center for the surrounding villages. On the map, a dense core of lanes sits where roads meet before they spread out across open fields.
Farming and dairying shape the region. Banaskantha is known for its large milk cooperative, and around Dhanera the fields form broad, irregular blocks separated by tracks and seasonal watercourses that stay dry for much of the year. In 2017 heavy monsoon floods hit the town hard, a reminder of how much water those channels can carry.
