Doka Map Poster & Print
Doka lies in Gedaref state in eastern Sudan, not far from the border with Ethiopia. From above, it forms a compact grouping of streets and compounds on a broad, open plain. Roads run out across the flat land toward neighbouring towns and villages, and the built-up area gives way quickly to fields and open country.
Gedaref state is one of Sudan's main farming regions, with large areas of rain-fed agriculture, particularly sorghum and sesame. Doka lies within this agricultural belt, in a landscape that grows green during the rainy season and dries under the long dry months.
A Doka map poster is sparse and quiet: a small town, a handful of roads, and a large amount of open space around them. That emptiness is part of the picture, showing how a settlement sits within a wide working landscape. It is a meaningful print for people with ties to eastern Sudan.

Open farmland
Wide agricultural plains surround the town. On the map they appear as generous open space around the settlement.
