Douane lies in Nabeul Governorate in north-eastern Tunisia, on the Cap Bon peninsula near the city of Nabeul and close to the shores of the Gulf of Hammamet. From above, the area shows the typical pattern of this coast: compact blocks of low houses, main roads running parallel to the sea, and a patchwork of gardens and orchards filling the spaces between settlements.
Cap Bon is one of the most agricultural parts of Tunisia, known for citrus groves and market gardens, and its coast has long attracted holidaymakers.
