Ejura is in the northern part of Ghana's Ashanti Region, where the forest zone begins to give way to more open land. From above, the town is a loose spread of streets and compounds rather than a tight grid. Roads branch out into farmland, and the edges fade gradually instead of stopping at a hard line.
The area is known above all for farming, and Ejura is an important market centre for produce grown in the surrounding countryside. The main road through town acts as its spine. On a map, most of the denser streets cluster along it, and the rest spread out in smaller, irregular blocks toward the fields.
