Esparreguera stands in the Baix Llobregat, on the rising ground between the Llobregat River and the foothills of Montserrat. Its map is shaped by gradient: the older streets bend with the terrain, while newer districts stretch toward the valley and the industrial zones near the river. The result is a compact, slightly elongated town with a clear sense of direction, from the mountain down to the water.
The town is best known for La Passió, a staging of the Passion that has been performed here for centuries with a large cast of local residents. Esparreguera is also closely tied to Montserrat, whose saw-toothed profile fills the view to the north-west. On the map, the mountain's slopes and ravines appear as a web of winding roads and empty ground.
