Fayfā’ Map Poster & Print
Fayfā’ is in the mountains of Jazan Region in south-western Saudi Arabia, close to the border with Yemen. There is no conventional town centre. Instead, houses and small clusters of buildings are spread along ridges and slopes, joined by roads that switch back and forth up the mountainside.
The district is known for its agricultural terraces, cut into the slopes over generations, and for growing coffee, fruit and grain in a climate much cooler and greener than the coast below. The contrast between these highlands and the flat Tihama plain is one of the sharpest in the region.
A Fayfā’ map poster looks very different from a city plan. Winding roads trace the contours, buildings are scattered along the high ground, and there are no blocks or grids. The result is an organic composition shaped almost entirely by the mountain.
