Follonica Map Poster & Print
Follonica sits on the Tuscan coast in the Maremma, at the centre of the gulf that carries its name. From above, the town follows the curve of the bay, with a long promenade and beach on one side and streets running inland in a fairly regular pattern. Across the water, the island of Elba lies off the coast to the west.
The town grew in the nineteenth century around iron foundries that processed ore from Elba, and the former foundry complex still forms a distinct area near the centre. Today Follonica is known mainly as a beach town. Pine woods line parts of the shore, and they appear on the map as green bands between the town and the sea.
A Follonica map poster is built on the curve of the gulf. The shoreline sweeps across the composition, the grid of the town fills the space behind it, and the pinewoods add softer shapes at the edges. It is a balanced, elegant print for anyone who spent summers on this part of the Tuscan coast.
