Fornacelle is a locality in Tuscany, on the densely settled plain between Florence and Prato. This area is part of one of Italy's best-known textile districts. Towns, industrial estates and farmland lie close together here. On a map, Fornacelle is part of a nearly continuous built-up landscape, with low hills rising a short distance to the north.
The street pattern mixes older rural roads, often straight and lined with houses, with residential blocks and the larger outlines of workshops and warehouses. Irrigation channels and field boundaries still cross the remaining farmland in regular lines. The overall texture is layered rather than centred on a single square. Monochrome printing suits it well.
