General Pinedo sits in the southwest of Chaco province, in a part of northern Argentina where the land is almost perfectly level. On a map that flatness shows up as geometry. The town is a tidy rectangle of square blocks, and at its edges the grid gives way to long, straight tracks that divide the countryside into large fields.
Many towns in this part of the Chaco grew up around railway lines, and the layout here follows that familiar pattern of an orderly plan with streets meeting at right angles and a central square among the blocks. Printed in fine black lines, the result reads like a drafting exercise, balanced and calm, with every street given the same weight.
