Genteng is a town in Banyuwangi Regency, at the far eastern end of Java, facing Bali across a narrow strait. It sits in fertile lowland country with volcanic mountains to the west. It is an important local trading town for the farming communities around it, and its markets and shops serve a wide rural area.
