Gomoh Map Poster
Gomoh lies in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district, in the coal-mining belt of eastern India, and it owes its existence to the railway. The station is an important junction on the main line between the Kolkata region and northern India. On the map, the tracks and yards are the most striking feature. They form wide, parallel bands across the town, and the residential lanes squeeze in around them.
The station has a notable place in history. In January 1941, Subhas Chandra Bose boarded a train here during his escape from British surveillance in Calcutta, and the station now carries his name. Beyond the railway, Gomoh is a working town of small streets and railway housing, with open ground and scattered villages in the surrounding countryside.

The station is named after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who boarded a train here in 1941 while escaping British surveillance, an event still commemorated locally.
Lanes beside the line
Housing, markets and railway quarters line both sides of the tracks. Their close, irregular pattern contrasts with the straight, wide railway corridor.
