Gongheyong lies in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong, on the low ground east of the estuary in the Dongguan and Shenzhen area. The land here is almost perfectly flat, so the map is organised by water and roads rather than hills: small rivers and drainage channels thread between the blocks, while broad highways run in long, straight lines toward the coast and neighbouring towns.
The pattern is typical of the delta's industrial towns. Large rectangular footprints of factories and logistics yards sit beside tighter clusters of housing and older village cores, and expressways cross the area on raised alignments. From above, the result is a patchwork of coarse and fine grain, with few open spaces other than the channels and occasional parks.
