Highland Springs is an unincorporated community in Henrico County, Virginia, just east of Richmond. Its map is defined by a clear, early suburban plan: long parallel avenues crossed by numbered or regular streets, forming rectangular blocks that feel ordered and deliberate. Around the edges, newer curving subdivisions and highway corridors show how the area grew outward over time.
The community developed around the turn of the twentieth century as a residential suburb connected to Richmond, and that origin still shows in the straightness of its core streets. To the south, the large open footprint of Richmond International Airport sits nearby, a contrast of runways and empty ground beside the dense residential pattern.
