Humbe is in Cunene province in southern Angola, near the Cunene River, which flows south and west toward the border with Namibia. The land here is flat and dry for much of the year, yet it is shaped by water. River channels, seasonal wetlands and floodplains leave their marks across the country around the town.
On the map the settlement is a modest gathering of streets, set among the looping lines of watercourses and the open ground of the plain. Roads connect Humbe with other towns in the province, and they run in long, straight lines, since the flat terrain presents few obstacles. Mapped detail is limited, so the plan stays simple.
