Hunt Valley lies in Baltimore County, Maryland, north of Baltimore along Interstate 83. From above, it looks quite different from a traditional town: large office and industrial campuses, parking areas and shopping centres are laid out along wide roads, with residential streets and wooded land surrounding them. The interstate forms the district's clear spine.
Hunt Valley is the headquarters of McCormick, the spice and flavourings company, and it marks the northern end of Baltimore's light rail line, which runs south from here into the city. The surrounding countryside, with horse farms and rolling hills, reflects the area's longer history as horse country.
