Ishwardi is an upazila town in Pabna District, in the Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. It sits near the north bank of the Padma, the Bangladeshi course of the Ganges. On the map, the river's broad channels and sandbars take up the southern part of any wide frame. They look wide and restless even in black and white.
The town is a major railway junction, and the tracks are among the strongest lines on the page. They converge in the centre and fan out toward the river and the north. Near Paksey, the Hardinge Bridge, a railway bridge opened in 1915, and the newer Lalon Shah road bridge cross the Padma side by side.
